Leaf Storm

Dear readers,

We have a new sneak peek for you: Leaf Storm! Leaf Storm is an installation/performance that we are preparing for the coming Basho exhibition.

LeafStorm2.JPG

Leaf Storm is a rotating curtain of real dried leaves (they really give the impression of a leaf storm!) inside which Anya sits in silence and serves water to audience members who decide to enter and sit with her. We have already tried out Leaf Storm and we have received excellent feedback. Those in the audience who sat with Anya felt a strong connection with her, and many said to have experienced a deep calm, “as if for a moment there was nothing in the world outside, and only what was inside the leaf storm mattered”. Leaf Storm will be exhibited in combination with Video Haiku 1, which we will not disclosed yet (it is assembled but we are still in the end of the post-production stage). With video haiku we try to create a video equivalence to the haiku poetry form. Like haiku, it is short and it references a season (in the case of Video Haiku 1 - autumn). The most important aspect of video haiku is the juxtaposition of two images to convey the essence of an experience of nature. In the case of Video Haiku 1, these images are the pouring of water and the falling of leaves.

So, what do you think of this work? We would love to hear back from you!
